Default Apache for total beginners

Well, I'm trying to put together a website which I'm sure my bosses will be thrilled with once it's up and running; but it's important that they NOT hear about it UNTIL it's up and running, otherwise they'll team me with this total dunderhead whose eye-popping incompetence will most assuredly poison the project.

We're running Win2000 over here, behind some kind of firewall; and installing IIS/PWS is out of the question. It looks like Apache will be the way to go; but the download instructions on apache.org are alphabet soup to me. Do I want Win32 source or Win32 binary? Do I really need to download the dozens and dozens of files that are listed under either of them? Which files serve which purpose? Help!!!!!

(or would I be better off just buying some kind of teach-yourself-apache book; if there is such a thing)

the binary file is what it says.... made up of binary. a fully compiled program. therefore, it is a simple executable. bang, away you go
